Stip in the classroom

In collaboration with GDO – Municipalities for Sustainable Development, Naar Buiten Leiden, and the Weizigt Centre for Nature and Environmental Education, Olmoost has developed The Garden with Stip into a teaching programme for Reception to Year 3. Stip has gained some new friends, and the activities from the book have been adapted for use in the classroom.
The idea for developing the teaching programme at the Weizigt Centre for Nature and Environmental Education was supported by 23 municipalities. Children across the country will be working with the teaching pack Party in the Garden with Stip, from Amsterdam to Breda and from Middelburg to Assen.
The teaching pack is full of ideas for teachers to organise activities after reading the book aloud. It includes suggestions for ways pupils can go outside and look for small creatures. It also contains tips on how to care for these animals, for example by planting seeds, making a water dish, or even organising a “party” for them. In addition, the pack includes colouring sheets and a range of drawing, maths and writing activities.
